The Curling Club Hamburg e.V.
The Curling Club Hamurg e.V.
the Curling Club Hamburg e.V. owns a curling arena, which is only used for curling.

This is something special throughout Germany and even in hole Europe, because many other curling clubs have to share their ice with other ice sports such as ice hockey or figure skating and therefore seldom play on "curling ice" prepared specialistically.

Ice hockey ice has particularly the peculiarity that a descent arises from the overtaxing of the middle surface of the ice to the middle. It is then necessary to take this descent into account while playing.

An ice-skater or an ice hockey player will, however, never be allowed to enter the ice in Curling Club Hamburg e.V. The ice is, since it constitutes the basis of our sports sacred for us.

As seen in the picture the Curling Club Hamburg has got 4 Rinks on which games can be delivered parallel on 4 Rinks.

Since a team has got 4 players and two teams always compete with each other, altogether 8 teams (i.e. 32 players) can play consequently in the club at the same time.

Because of these extremely favourable conditions it possible to have big international tournaments with far over 30 teams over several days take place in the Curling Club Hamburg e.V.

The bar of the Curling Club Hamburg e.V.
A bar of one's own is still a rareness in Curling, too. Most Curlers of other clubs have to share a bar together with many other athletes from different sports, what is often the reason that homogeneous rounds of talks hardly arise and one has difficulties to meet other Curlers during a tournament.

We, however, have a new bartender Horst Schliebitz who provides us curlers with food and drinks.

Lenard Schulze
Lenard Schulze is the president of Curling Club Hamburg e.V. Mr Schulze commits himself to the progress of our club very strongly and is always in the mood for jokes. They are unbelievably funny particularly if he may make these in English.

Next to his son Felix Mr Schulze is moreover one of the most active Curlers of the club and among other things he became German senior master last season.

The young Curlers love to accompany Mr Schulze to foreign tournaments, since one often comes back from those tournaments with prices and many positive experiences.

Mr Schulze works as a second job as a lawyer in his own law firm.

Manfred Jagenholz
Manfred Jagenholz is the chief ice maker of the Curling Club Hamburg e.V.

Mr. Jagenholz is already for many years every season with large dedication and success troubled to prepare us Curlers an ice as good as possible and was praised internationally too.

The job of an ice master is not at all a simple activity. An ice master must rather know a lot about the composition of the ice and correspondingly react to possible temperature and atmospheric humidity fluctuations to keep the ice in the condition which is for us Curlers normal and wished.

In addition to this an ice master is always the first to enter the club and the last to leave. So he must begin at 6 am if possible before tournaments which start at 8 am in the morning to plane the ice down to repair holes and do all the other things which are absolutely necessary in front of a Curling game.

Horst Schliebitz
Horst Schliebitz is the new Bartender of the Curling Club Hamburg e.V. He came together with his wife Ingrid in the beginning of the Season 2001/2002 into our club.

Mr Schliebitz offers different beers, liquors and other drinks next to an extensive menu in his gastronomy.

Mr Schliebitz fortunately still operates his private pub, the "Gaststätte zum ländlichen Verkehr", on the other side of the street moreover in which one outside the curling season gets to feel the same hospitality.

Sabine Belkofer
